For those who work in the vineyards, their work or craft is a calling, a vocation or ‘oficios’ These collector wines are a tribute to all who work the vines and wine.
Made only in exceptional years this is an excellent Douro red made from Touriga Franca and Tinto Roriz from the Boango vineyards. The grapes are hand-picked and gently crushed with their stems in the granite lagares and open oak barrels at the winery in the vineyard. Then they are macerated by hand, extracting all the delicate flavours. At the end of the fermentation the wines are transferred into french oak barrels for 24 months before bottling.
Oficios has aromas reminiscent of cabernet sauvignon with cassis, herbs and leather. On the palate there is dense ripe fruit, plum and blueberry, violet, coffee and iodine. It is firm and full bodied, fresh and concentrated with a juicy acidity and ripe smooth tannins. The finish is very long. This wine displays great ageing potential. It can be enjoyed now or cellared for a few more years.
These wines are unfiltered for better ageing. Decant one or two hours before drinking.
